Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny has become a key member of the Gunners squad this season.
The 24-year-old signed for the Gunners during the January Transfer window in the 2015-16 season, having joined the club from Swiss side Basel.
Wenger has been impressed by his physical qualities and his attitude after proving himself to be a key member of the squad.
‘I’m very delighted with Elneny. First of all, he’s a guy who contributes a lot to the collective quality of the team,’ Wenger told the Arsenal website.
‘He defends well, he attacks well and he’s a continuity player who puts oil in the engine. He’s a pleasure to work with on a daily basis.
‘He’s a big advert for Egypt because he’s humble, he’s willing to do well, he has a helpful attitude… he’s a fantastic boy and a great asset for us.’
Arsenal will now go head-to-head against Chelsea in a London Derby in the Premier League on Saturday.
The match at Stamford Bridge kicks off at 14:30.
