Mamelodi Sundowns thrashed Orlando Pirates 6-0 in the Absa Premiership, with violent fans invading the field after 82 minutes.
The Buccaneers conceded six goals before Pirates supporters invaded the pitch and clashed with Sundowns fans, which resulted in several injuries.
The game was called to a halt for more than an hour before the last eight minutes were played.
This was the Soweto giant’s biggest defeat since their 6-1 thumping against SuperSport United in November last year.
Pirates are now likely to receive a huge fine from the Premier Soccer League for bringing the game to a halt and failing to control their fans.
The Buccaneers’ supporters caused havoc in the stadium by vandalising SuperSport television cables and interrupting their match feed.
