Ramahlwe Mphahlele believes that his side’s winning run will count for nothing if they fail to beat Highlands Park at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Chiefs have rebounded well from their wobble at the end of 2016 and have struck four consecutive wins to be placed firmly inside the top four on the PSL standings.

‘We have been working hard as a team, but we are well aware that four wins in a row is nothing and we need to be humble, knowing that there is still a long way to go,’ Mphahlele told the club’s website.

‘For me personally, the attitude should be to continue winning games and not be satisfied with the two wins this year. These wins mean nothing if we go on to lose our next game. It’s a good start we have had so far, but we have to build on this and continue winning games.’

Chiefs face Highlands Park in their outing, a match which the Glamour Boys are expected to win.

‘I watched their last game (against Polokwane City) at home and obviously they have a good team. I am actually surprised why they are at the bottom of the log, because they have good players who have experience of playing at the highest level.

‘We have to be at our best if we want to beat them and switch on from the first whistle till the last and take our chances. In all honesty, we are expected to win against them and we want to keep our winning streak going.’

Mphahlele is pleased with his debut campaign at Naturena, but is quick to stress that the team comes first, with a trophy the main goal, as they try to turn things around after a poor 2015-16 season.

‘To be honest, I am happy, but the most important thing is the team… It’s always about the team for me. We have to try and win a trophy or two this season. I want to keep improving as a player, while dishing out good performances for the team, because it is not everybody who gets an opportunity to play for Kaizer Chiefs.’

As the Soweto derby in March looms, ‘Rama’ wants Chiefs to prepare and play the next outing with the same vigour as they will when they take to the FNB Stadium against Pirates.

‘All the games we play are just as important because three points are there for the taking and that is important to us as a team. The game this weekend is just as important as the Derby and it’s important for us to approach it with the same mentality and passion as we would for the Soweto Derby.’
