Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has praised the impact of substitutes Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic after combined to score the vital winning goal.
The Red Devils claimed a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup fifth round at Ewood Park on Sunday.
United have now been drawn against Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the competition and the two sides will go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge on March 11.
The 54-year-old manager has hailed the impact of Pogba and Ibrahimovic after they played their part in United’s progress into the next round after coming on as second half substitutes.
‘When I have really important players on the bench then I can try to make an impact. Sometimes it doesn’t work, but it depends also on their mentality,’ Mourinho told the Manchester United website.
‘Of course, I spoke to Paul and Zlatan at half-time. In the moment of need, they were more than ready to come with the right attitude for the team.’
The Portuguese manager says he was delighted with the win and he believes his side deserved the victory following their performance.
‘So I am happy with the victory. We deserved to win. Blackburn probably deserved to go to Old Trafford but this way is better for them as now they can focus on a very difficult Championship.’
Manchester United will now turn their attention to the Europa League when they take on Saint-Etienne on Wednesday.
The match at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard kicks off at 19:00.
