Orlando Pirates and Polokwane City played out to a 1-1 draw, while Platinum Stars secured a 3-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
Rise and Shine got off to a good start and had the first attempt at goal in the fifth minute when Selgoela sent a cross into the area, but his effort evaded the onrushing attackers.
Pirates came close to opening the scoring two minutes later when Mpho Makola was released on the right, but his first-time cross was unable to find Tendai Ndoro in the area.
The Buccaneers once again came close to breaking the deadlock in the 35th minute, but Makola’s curled effort was well saved by Polokwane goalkeeper George Chigova.
The visitors got off to a bright start in the second half and should’ve taken the lead in the 47th minute, but Saluani Phiri blazed his attempt over the bar.
However, Pirates took the lead in the 54th minute when Ramagalela put the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Pirates came close to doubling their lead, forcing Chigova into making a number of saves to keep the other side at bay.
Polokwane came close to equalizing when they were three on one with the keeper, but Puleng Tlolane opted to go for glory which failed to trouble the goalkeeper.
Substitute Riyaad Norodien nearly handed his side a second goal in stoppage time, but his strike could only find the post as Pirates walked away with all the points.
Platinum Stars cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium through goals by Phiri and Ntuli.
