Chippa United midfielder Menzi Masuku says he is disappointed not to have collected all three points against Golden Arrows following their ‘wonderful performance’ on Friday.
The 23-year-old walked away with the Man of the Match performance as his side shared the spoils following their 2-2 draw with against Abafana Bes’thende.
The former Orlando Pirates midfielder says he is delighted to have won the award but he feels disappointed that his side could not walk away with all three points following their performance on the day.
‘It was exciting to win the Man of the Match award but I must admit I was very disappointed that we did not win the game after such a wonderful performance from the team,’ Masuku told the Chippa United website.
‘I thought everyone was superb on the evening but we must focus on the next game now.’
Masuku says he is slowly building his confidence and match fitness after getting the much-needed game time under his belt but insists that he is relishing the chance to play his part in the next fixture.
‘I think I am peaking at the right time after being in and out of the team during the first half of the season. I feel good. My confidence is slowly getting back so is my match fitness. I am excited going about the upcoming games.
The South African U20 went on to say that he is now working on trying to improve his performance, despite putting in a good performance against Arrows.
‘There is still a lot to learn of course. I do not think I was at my best though because I did not score. I did have good moments but part of my game is the ability to score and I am working on that, one game at a time and the best of Menzi is yet to come,’
Chippa United will now take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday.
The match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
