Georginio Wijnaldum and Emre Can were on target as Liverpool came from behind to beat Burnley 2-1 at Anfield.

Burnley got off to a fine start when Matt Lowton threaded a diagonal through-ball beyond the Liverpool defence, which Ashley Barnes prodded in with seven minutes on the clock.

Liverpool struggled to find their momentum, but were level at the stroke of half-time thanks to Wijnaldum, who controlled Divock Origi’s left-wing cross and side-footed the equaliser in.

The winner came when Can unleashed a low drive from distance that eluded Tom Heaton and earned Liverpool a victory that takes them to within a point of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur and five clear of Arsenal, in fifth.

Burnley remain 12th on 31 points.
