Manchester City right back Pablo Zabaleta has hailed his side’s collective performance after beating Middlesbrough 2-0 in their FA Cup quarter-finals clash on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s side booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium through goals from David Silva and Sergio Aguero.
The 32-year-old believes his side worthy of their win after the Citizens produced an impressive collective display at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.
‘It’s never easy. This is a tough place to come and get a result, we know that,’ Zabaleta told the Manchester City website.
‘They are a very physical team and we know they are really dangerous with crosses, but we were really solid at the back and we looked very dangerous going forward.
‘We should have scored a few more goals. We created a lot of chances, but overall we were the better team and we deserved to go through.’
The Argentine international went on to praise his team’s willingness and quality to create a countless number of chances in the final third.
‘We have so much talent up front to create chances and score goals. We had a lot of chances to score a goal. I had three, David had a lot and so did Raheem Sterling,’ he added.
‘If we score, it’s easier for us to play the game.’
Manchester City will next take on Liverpool when the two sides meet in the Premier League on Sunday.
The match at the Etihad Stadium kicks off at 20:15.
