SuperSport United captain Dean Furman says he hopes his side can continue their current unbeaten run for as long as possible.
Matsatsantsa are currently place third in the Absa Premiership standings with 37 points, having won nine out of 20 matches played so far this campaign, and have lost only once this season.
The 28-year-old believes his side can continue their rich vein of form after going unbeaten since the start of the 2016-17 campaign.
‘It has been great to be involved in the run of unbeaten games and we hope we can continue this run for as long as possible,’ Furman told the SuperSport United website.
‘The run is a testament to the hard work that we have put in on the training ground, together with the hard work behind the scenes of the coach and technical team.’
Furman continued to say that believes Matsatsantsa have to work harder after their match against Orlando Pirates ended in a draw, their 10th draw of the season.
‘On our unbeaten run, we have definitely drawn a few too many games and the game against Orlando Pirates is probably one we will look at and think we should have had all three points,’ he added.
‘A couple of decisions didn’t go our way on the night, which would have put us in a comfortable position, but that is football and we have to accept it and move on.
‘In the last 10 minutes, it was end to end, Pirates threw everything they had at us and the game could have gone either way.’
The Bafana Bafana midfielder says his side have been training well and is relishing the chance to advance in the Caf Confederation Cup.
‘The mood at training is very positive. Everyone is looking forward to another CAF challenge in Sudan and we hope we can proceed through this game and into the next round,’ Furman said.
‘It is slightly more difficult to get information on teams in the CAF competitions than the teams in the PSL, but we have a great technical team who I’m sure will be compiling as much information on our opponents as possible and we will be fully prepared for the challenge.’
SuperSport United will next travel to the Harry Gwala Stadium when they take on Loyal Eagles in the Nedbank Cup on Wednesday.
Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
