Madagascar’s Ahmad Ahmad has sent shock waves through the continent by unseating Issa Hayatou as CAF president on Thursday.
Hayatou was outvoted 34-20 at the CAF Congress in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to end 28 years in charge of African football.
Ahmad is only the sixth person to serve as president in 60 years.
Thanks to all those who support me. We are confident that tomorrow, the wind of change for African Football will blow here in Addis Ababa.
