Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have had their contract talks put on hold by Arsenal management until the end of the season.
The futures of both the German maestro and his Chilean playmaking teammate will only be discussed at the end of the current campaign, after Arsene Wenger admitted it was better to suspend the talks, with little progress being made.
Wenger will be keen to see Ozil and Sanchez extend their current deals, which expire at the end of next season. Arsenal once again run the risk of seeing their best players leave, either on a free or for a reduced price with little time left on their deals.
‘At the moment we have not got an agreement,’ said Wenger.
‘We have decided to focus on the end of the season and talk about it in the summer. It is the same situation with Ozil because once you don’t find an agreement and it lasts, it is not good so it is better you get it out and sit down in the summer.’
The future of Arsene Wenger himself remains up in the air.
