Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho says his side need to show the same fighting spirit they produced against Liverpool, when they play Arsenal on Sunday.
The Citizens head into the next match at the Emirates in third, two points behind Tottenham Hotspur in second place, but face stiff competition from Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal for a place in the Champions League next season.
The 19-year-old striker insists that his side have to show the same fighting spirit they did in the previous match, in order to secure all three points.
‘We are going to go to the Emirates and fight. We need a win there. It’s a good team, so we need to fight hard to get three points,’ Iheanacho told the Manchester City website.
‘We are in a good situation. We played well against Liverpool and showed good character.
‘We defend well, we attack well, but unfortunately we couldn’t win. We are in a good position in the Premier League, we keep fighting and focus on the next games.’
The Nigerian striker says he is loving his time with the club, and feels he is constantly improving by playing alongside a squad of top-class players.
‘I’m very happy and very grateful to be in this team. I keep working hard every day, and when I get my chance I have to prove to everyone I need to be in the squad,’ he added.
‘It’s a great squad with great players. Everyone is working really hard, so everyone should be happy being in this team. It’s a great team. The supporters give us everything, so we need to keep fighting for the team and the fans.
‘I am improving every day. I keep learning and improving and that will help me in the future. I love it here.’
Manchester City will now travel to the Emirates Stadium when they take on Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
Kick-off has been scheduled for 17:00.
