Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo insists that it is crucial for his side to collect points in each of their remaining Absa Premiership matches left this season.
The Urban Warriors resumed training on Monday morning in preparation for the Absa Premiership clash against Maritzburg United on Saturday.
The 53-year-old says his side has to step up their game in order to collect points to help them climb the Absa Premiership table this season.
‘At this stage of the season, every point is important,’ Menzo told the Ajax Cape Town website.
‘It’s very tight, so just one or two wins and you move up quickly. But we still have to do it. Every team in the same position as us is fighting, so we just have to deal with it.’
However, Menzo has highlighted the lack of goals the key points that the Urban Warriors need to improve if they want to overcome the Team of Choice in Pietermaritzburg.
‘The big problem at the moment is goals. Ball possession is important, but it has to end in creating chances or in goals. That is something we at Ajax Cape Town have to learn – when you are in control of the game, you must finish,’ He added.
Ajax Cape Town will next take on Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
The match at the Harry Gwala Stadium kicks off at 20:15.
