Maritzburg United interim coach Fadlu Davids says his side are targeting three points when they take on Ajax Cape Town in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
The Team of Choice head into this encounter in 10th place in the Absa Premiership standings with 23 points, with the Uran Warriors in 12th with 22 points, having played the same number of games.
Davids impressed as interim coach when Ernst Middendorp departed in November, and he will now begin his second spell as interim coach at the club.
The 35-year-old says his objective is to get the squad fully focused again, following the departure of coach Roger De Sa three months after his appointment.
‘It obviously came as a shock when Roger resigned, so the first thing to do, was to get the players to focus on football, focus on the positives and the tactical aspects of the game that we are working on,’ Davids told the Maritzburg United website.
The caretaker coach says he is determined to continue their winning ways when they welcome the Urban Warriors to the Harry Gwala Stadium.
‘The last game we played at home was against Free State Stars and we won,’ he added.
‘We have to take that mentality into the Ajax game, that we are playing at home, we have to win it for our fans. It’s going to be a tough game as Ajax will also be coming for three points, as we are in a similar situation on the log.’
