Bloemfontein Celtic secured a memorable away win at Polokwane City, courtesy of a lone strike by Lyle Lakay.

The match headed into the break goalless, despite both sides having a number of chances to find the opener in the first 45 minutes.

No chance was better than the one Jabulani Maluleke created when his cross found Sibusiso Mbonani, who wastefully missed the target. Rodney Ramagalela responded for the visitors, but his shot hit the bar to the relief of the home crowd.

George Chigova ensured parity shortly before the break, when he denied Tshegofatso Mabasa.

Lyle Lakay wrote the headlines when he thrashed home a 25-yard effort in what would go on to be the match-winner in the 74th minute.

The win moves Celtic up to 12th spot on the table.
