Bongolwethu Jayiya hit a stunning 16 minute hat-trick to send Cape Town City top of the table as they ran out 4-1 winners over Chippa United at Athlone Stadium.
Jayiya’s hat-trick, the fastest in the PSL era, was the difference as he gave City the lead in the sixth minute before tapping home Lebogang Manyama’s cross six minutes later to make it 2-0.
In the 16th minute, Jayiya had the home crowd singing as he headed home his own rebound to write his name in the history books.
Aubrey Ngoma put Thamsanqa Mhize in to help City go four up before the break.
The second half saw Chippa finally get their name on the scoresheet as Rhulani Manzini finally beat the goalkeeper but with 15 minutes to go, the game was settled.
