Bidvest Wits midfielder Mogakolodi Ngele played down his individual contribution to his side’s resounding 3-0 win against Golden Arrows on Tuesday night.
The Clever Boys returned to the top of the PSL table after goals by Gabadinho Mhango and a brace by Ngele gave Gavin Hunt’s side their 13th victory of the campaign.
Despite having netted two goals, the second of which proved to be a sublime left-footed finish, the Botswana international highlighted the effort of the team, and said that he was not looking for individual accolades when asked if his goal could win the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month.
‘First of all I’d like to thank God and my family for being there for me each and every time, even if I don’t play,’ he said on SuperSport TV.
‘I think we played well today as a team, we tried to play short passes so that they can come to us, and we tried by all means to sit back so that they could not catch us on counter-attacks.
‘It was not easy, but as I’ve said it’s all about the team. We made good runs off the ball and on the ball so I think that was good for us.
‘I’m not looking at that, as long as the team wins I”m happy for them,’ he concluded.
Wits travel to the Mother City to face Cape Town City in a top-of-the-table encounter on 19 April.
The match at Cape Town Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
