Mamelodi Sundowns forward Khama Billiat insists history won’t mean anything when they take on rivals SuperSport United in their second Tshwane derby on Wednesday.

The Brazilians are set to face SuperSport in the Tshwane derby for the second time in six days, after Pitso Mosimane’s side thumped United 5-0 at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on 13 April.

Sundowns currently occupy fourth place in the Absa Premiership with 41 points, and have won 12 out of 21 matches played so far this season, while United sits in fifth with 37 points.

The Zimbabwean international insists that his side has to forget the previous meeting between the two sides and focus on the upcoming fixture on Wednesday.

‘We would like to say we are well-motivated because of the history, but right now history won’t do us justice,’ Billiat told KickOff.com.

‘We can’t risk going into the game and thinking about the history and then come out sad. We really need to push very hard and forget that we had beaten them [SuperSport] before.

‘We’re just going there wanting to win like we have never won them before.’

Sundowns will be hoping to claim their third consecutive victory in the Absa Premiership following their win over Free State Stars, while SuperSport are coming off the back of a victory in the Caf Confederations Cup, which saw them advance to the next round.

Mamelodi Sundowns will now travel to the Lucas Moripe Stadium when they lock horns with SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
