The Serie A outfit recorded a 0-0 draw against Luis Enrique’s side to advance to the semi-finals of the competition with a 3-0 victory on aggregate after their comprehensive first-leg victory.
Alves, who joined Juventus in July 2016 on a free transfer from Barcelona, consoled his countryman at the final whistle and insisted that he didn’t want to face his former employees.
‘I told him that this is football, that’s just the way it is,’ he told Express.
‘I already told him that I didn’t want to take on Barcelona for all that we had gone through together, but that in these situations you have to leave feelings aside.
‘Everyone defended their club colours and Neymar needn’t be sad. It’s just a defeat and he has to move on,’ he concluded.
