Kaizer Chiefs forward Ryan Moon insists that he is relishing the chance to add to his goal tally after breaking his Amakhosi duck on Saturday.

The 20-year-old bagged his first goal in his third appearance for Amakhosi after scoring a 77th-minute goal against Arrows to clinch a 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The former Maritzburg United striker says he is grateful to coach Steve Komphela for the faith the coach has shown in him since making the move from the Team of Choice in the beginning of the season.

‘That was a great feeling. I want to thank God and coach Steve Komphela for giving me this opportunity,’ Moon told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

‘We are always talking about attacking the line and that’s what I did. A million things went through my mind – to run, to dive on the grass, to take the jersey off, it was wonderful.’

‘If given a chance to play, I will score. I am a man of my word. That was a bit of hard luck. It was a heart-breaking moment when they scored.’

The Glamour Boys are currently placed fourth in the Absa Premiership with 47 points and have won a total of 12 out of 27 matches played so far this season, trailing log leaders Bidvest Wits by 10 points.

Meanwhile, Komphela says he was pleased with the striker’s performance after opening his account against Arrows in the Absa Premiership.

‘To play in the Absa Premiership you have to be brave. To be able to play for Kaizer Chiefs you need to develop a crust beyond brave. I am very happy for Ryan,’ Komphela said.

Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to continue their winning ways when they take on Polokwane City on Saturday.

The match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium kicks off at 18:00.
