Cape Town City captain Lebogang Manyama admits that his side gave away too many points during the home Absa Premiership games, which he believes they should’ve won.

The 26-yer-old has been in superb form for Eric Tinkler’s side during the 2016-17 campaign, leading them to their first Telkom Knockout trophy, and a third-place finish in the Absa Premiership.

Meanwhile, the former Ajax Cape Town midfielder is walking away with the Golden Boot in the PSL after netting 13 goals this season.

Manyama insists that his side has to learn from their experience in the PSL this season, and improve on their performance as they prepare for the 2017-18 season.

‘There were games at home we should have won. The loss to Baroka and the draw against (Orlando) Pirates when they equalised in the last minute, as well as draws against SuperSport United and (Bidvest) Wits,’ Manyama told Goal.com.

‘If you add all those lost points – where would we be now? It proves if you win your home games you stand a very good chance of being top and that’s what we need to do next season,’ he said.

The City captain insists that he is relishing the chance to participate in the African tournament after his side qualified for the Caf Confederations Cup.

‘We surprised a lot of people and now everybody knows what we’re capable of. So, it’s going to be extremely tough to balance the scale with Caf in the picture now.’

‘We’re looking forward to these challenges, nonetheless, because these are the kind of games you want to play as a footballer and challenge for honours,’ Manyama concluded.
