Damian de Allende has made a timely return to training after fellow centres Juan de Jongh and Shaun Treeby were ruled out of the Stormers’ clash against the Sunwolves this Saturday due to injury.
De Allende has overcome a quad injury and will come into selection contention, with De Jongh unavailable due to concussion suffered against the Cheetahs last Saturday, while Treeby will be sidelined for two weeks with a rib injury.
Fullback SP Marais also injured his knee after landing awkwardly, and although he sustained no major ligament damage, his progress will need to be be monitored carefully to see if he recovers in time to face the Sunwolves.
Props Oli Kebble (thigh) and Ali Vermaak (calf) are still recovering from their respective injuries, with both players facing a race against time to be fit for the Super Rugby ‘quarter-finals’.
