Kaizer Chiefs and Polokwane City were forced to share the spoils after playing out to a 0-0 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening, writes Dylan Appolis.

The encounter got off to a slow start as neither side were able to create any clear-cut opportunities in the final third in the opening exchanges of the match.

Amakhosi produced the first chance of the game after 16 minutes when Bernard Parker forced Polokwane shot-stopper George Chigove into making a good save, despite the striker being flagged offside.

Chigova came to his sides rescue again after he produced another save to deny Hendrick Ekstein’s deflected effort from outside the area.

Rise and Shine’s first real opportunity came in the 21st minute after Rodney Ramagalela unleashed a powerful strike at goal, but Itumeleng Khune was on hand to make the save.

Neither side were able to break the deadlock in the first 45 minutes as the match went into the half time interval locked at 0-0.

Polokwane had a chance to take the lead in the second half when Jabulani Maluleke set up Rendani Ndou, but the forward could not guide his effort towards goal.

Parker should’ve given Amakhosi the lead in the 55th minute, but the striker blazed his effort wide of the target.

Tshabalala came the closest to breaking the deadlock when he unleashed a powerful volleyed effort, but his effort could only find the woodwork from eight-yards out.

Chiefs came close to breaking the deadlock in the 75th minute after Siphiwe Tshabalala put Ekstein through on goal, but the midfielder blasted his effort over the crossbar.

However, neither side could find the winning goal in the closing stages of the match as the encounter finished goalless after 90 minutes.
