Khama Billiat celebrates with Sundowns teammates

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Khama Billiat believes he was rewarded with two goals after listening to Pitso Mosimane’s instructions to get in between defenders.

The Zimbabwean international came on as a second-half substitute to bag a brace and inspire Sundowns to a 2-0 victory over defending champions Bidvest Wits on Tuesday.

Billiat admits he listened to Pitso Mosimane’s instructions from the bench to avoid making the same mistakes as the other players.

‘Firstly, I want to thank God for the opportunity, the coaches and my teammates who encouraged me,’ Billiat told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘We didn’t concede, which is good because the coach always tells that if we don’t concede we stand a good chance of winning the match. Everyone is working hard, so it’s good for the team.

‘When you’re sitting on the bench you’re always listening to the coach giving instructions, so when you go in you don’t have to make the same mistakes. We played as the coach said to always be in between the defenders and that was a good pass from Percy [Tau] and also a good pass from Hlompho [Kekana].’

Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to continue their winning run when they take on Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, with kick-off set for 15:30.
