Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has dedicated the Buccaneers impressive victory over Mamelodi Sundowns to the club’s supporters.
The Buccaneers claimed their sixth win in the Absa Premiership with a 3-1 win over Sundowns at Loftus Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Serbian tactician heaped praise on his players and technical staff following the Buccaneers impressive performance against the Brazilians.
‘First, for a good match, you need a good team. We played a top quality team that has played three matches in one week. We prepared well. The game has been a cut and paste of what we have been preparing at Orlando Stadium,’ Sredojevic told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘I want to give credit to the players. They have given everything and really believed in this day because it was too much drama in 2017 for our supporters. From the technical team and the players, I’d like to dedicate this win to the supporters for all the pain they have suffered. I think a bit of sweetness in their lives in the new year, they deserve it.
‘When you play Sundowns they have the mileage in the legs of international players so they are never under pressure, whether they up or down, they play the same way. For us we are a work in progress, we are a team that is developing. We have shown competitiveness as we have scored three goals in two games [in a row]. We could have wrapped it up, but it’s good for our football that there were chances and it was good to watch in the Stadium and on Television.’
Orlando Pirates will next welcome Polokwane City to the Orlando Stadium when the two side’s meet in the league on Saturday, with kick-off set for 20:15.
