The Blitzboks advanced to the Cup semi-finals of the Sydney Sevens after securing a hard-fought 17-0 win over Kenya on day three.
The Springbok Sevens were hardly challenged over the first two days of competition after cruising to wins over Papua New Guinea, Spain and England.
However, they certainly didn’t have it all their own way against Kenya, although a brace of tries from Seabelo Senatla enabled the Blitzboks to establish a 10-0 lead at the break.
The Blitzboks then eventually struck the decisive blow when Ruhan Nel intercepted a pass and put Tim Agaba away to score early in the second stanza.
It meant that even when Kyle Brown was shown a yellow card late in the game, there was little Kenya could do to prevent the Blitzboks from progressing to a semi-final against the USA at at 08:36 (SA time).
