Ajax Cape Town are set to further bolster their squad with the signing of Mamelodi Sundowns defender Siyanda Zwane on a six-month loan deal.
Zwane, who has been playing second-fiddle to the likes of Thapelo Morena and Motjeka Madisha is said to have undergone a medical at Ikamva ahead of his move to Cape Town for the remainder of the season.
Ertugral, who mentored Zwane during his days with Golden Arrows, is delighted to have the versatile defender on-board, citing his experience and fitness.
‘This is a player I’ve always loved – I think I was the man that made him into that player,’ he told Kickoff.com.
‘I always believed in him, and I always have a smile on my face when he plays, and I’m glad he’s here.
‘He plays in the 60m zone in the channel, up and down, up and down – he has a great engine, and can hopefully immediately fill that position, so we can have him already for the next game,’ he added.
The 32-year-old is likely to replace youngster Sirgio Kammies in the right wing-back role and Ertugral also suggested that the deal with veteran defender Siboniso Gaxa could be called off due to rocky negotiations.
‘I don’t think we need two right wing-backs, though I still first have to speak to “Pa.”
‘The negotiations as well weren’t that smooth – this is for my chairman to say, but I think it took a bit too long, but we’ll see. But I’m happy that Zwane is here,’ he concluded.
The Urban Warriors’ next assignment sees them face a rejuvenated Orlando Pirates outfit on Wednesday at the Cape Town Stadium with kickoff set for 19:30.
