Orlando Pirates midfielder Musa Nyatama says he was pleased with the Buccaneers’ ability to score from two set-pieces following their 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United.
The Buccaneers moved up to second in the Absa Premiership standings with 33 points, trailing log leaders Mamelodi Sundown by five points.
Nyatama says he was happy to see his side convert their chance from set-pieces after Thabiso Kutumela netted a free kick and Happy Jele scored from a corner.
‘It was very hard but I’m happy we stuck to our tactics. We knew how they were going to come with three at the back so [we] thought “let’s match them pound for pound” and see the quality of their players,’ Nyatama told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘I’m glad with the three points; it will take us somewhere.
‘Every time we play, we try to manipulate one side and go play through the middle and try to squeeze those passes into our third half and also play through our number 10s, they did well.
‘We scored through set-pieces today; I’m very happy with that.’
Orlando Pirates will next play host to Ajax Cape Town at the Orlando Stadium when the two sides lock horns in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 20:15.
