Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to get midfielder Willard Katsande match-ready for their upcoming Absa Premiership clash against Cape Town City on Saturday.

The 32-year-old sustained a knock during the final minutes of Amakhosi’s Nedbank Cup last-32 encounter against Golden Arrows on Sunday.

Chiefs physiotherapist Dave Milner confirmed that Katsande suffered a fractured facial bone and will continue to be monitored ahead of their next Premiership fixture.

‘Katsande has fractured a bone in his face. He was taken to hospital for a surgery,’ Milner told his club’s official website.

‘Katsande will be under observation this week. We will see how he responds to treatment during the week and take it from there.’

He also revealed that George Maluleka and Gustavo Paez are expected to return to full training while Dumisani Zuma will continue to nurse his way back to full fitness.

‘We hope to have Maluleka and Paez in full training this week. Maluleka has a calf strain and Paez has a hamstring problem. They are both expected to be ready for the next game,’ he added.

‘Dumisani Zuma is recovering well from a groin strain. He will be out for this weekend’s match against Cape Town City.’

Kaizer Chiefs will next play host to Cape Town City when the two sides go head-to-head at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, with kickoff set for 20:15.
