Orlando Pirates striker Augustine Mulenga say he wants to emulate former Zambian international Isaac Chansa and create a ‘lasting legacy’ at the club.

The 27-year-old joined his new teammates for his first training session on Wednesday after signing a three-and-a-half year deal with the Buccaneers.

Mulenga says he would like to follow in the footsteps of Chansa, who enjoyed a successful five-and-a-half-year stint with the Soweto giants.

‘If there is one former Zambian (player) that I would like to emulate, it would be Isaac Chansa. He came here and made a big impact at the club,’ Mulenga told his new club’s official website.

‘Even today, when Chansa comes by our town, people remember what he did for the club. They would say, “Do you see Isaac? Do you know what he did with Orlando Pirates?”

‘Pirates is a big team with an impressive history. I’m honoured to be here and, like my countryman and others before me, I want to work hard for the club and create a lasting legacy that would make me and my country proud.

‘I want to be able to tell my kids one day that I was at Orlando Pirates and show them what I achieved with the club.’

The Zambian Footballer of the Year has previously played for Nkwazi and Zesco United, while making seven appearances for the Zambian national team since making his debut in March 2017 under the guidance of Wedson Nyirenda.
