SuperSport United midfielder Aubrey Modiba believes Matsatsantsa can finish inside the top eight of the Absa Premiership this season.
Matsatsantsa are currently placed 14th in the league standings with 27 points from 24 games and are five points off a top-eight finish with six games remaining in the season.
Modiba says his side are focused on claiming maximum points in the hope of securing their place within the top eight of the PSL.
‘Right now there’s six games remaining. What motivates us is that when you win one game, you are close to the top eight. That is helping us to keep on pushing so that we can reach our goal of finishing in the top eight,’ Modiba told KickOff.com.
‘We know it’s hard. The games are coming thick and fast, but at least we’ve had a break and we can focus on getting maximum results.’
The 22-year-old went on to praise interim coach Kaitano Tembo after taking over the helm at Matsatsantsa following the departure of Eric Tinkler.
‘He [Tembo] has been great to us. We are enjoying his training sessions because he did not change much. It’s not like he is a stranger to us. He has been with the team, he’s a great coach.’
SuperSport United will next take on Polokwane City in the Absa Premiership at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on 4 April, with kick-off set for 7:30pm.
