Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Patrick Mabedi believes ‘everything went wrong’ for Amakhosi after Leonardo Castro was shown his marching orders in the first half of their 3-1 defeat to Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

The Glamour Boys suffered their sixth defeat of the season after their 3-1 defeat to Arrows in their Absa Premiership encounter on Tuesday evening.

Amakhosi are now fourth in the league standings with 42 points while Arrows are ninth with 34 points from 28 games.

The 44-year-old Mabedi admits that everything went wrong after going a man down, but was impressed with the fighting spirit his side showed for the remainder of the match.

‘We started very badly. I think we slept a little bit. I think what affected us more was the red card, everything just went wrong for us after that. I think we lost control immediately after the red card,’ Mabedi told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘I have to give credit to the players. They fought with a man less and showed character and we have tried our best. If you check the goals we conceded, it was just individual errors, it happens.

‘But it’s one of those things so we just have to keep going. We were good.

‘We tried to knock it around and with the fighting spirit showed today, I think if we continue working on our mistakes done today, we’ll go somewhere.’

Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to bounce back when they welcome Maritzburg United to the FNB Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 3pm.
