Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs are set to clash in the inaugural Shell Helix Cup, which is set to replace the cancelled Carling Black Label Cup.
The traditional curtain raiser between Soweto giants Orlando Pirates and Chiefs was cancelled due to the 2018 Fifa World Cup. Now the Amakhosi and the Brazilians will clash just before the start of the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.
According to Stadium Management South Africa’s (SMSA) boss Jacques Grobbelaar, the match will be staged at FNB Stadium, 21 July.

The announcement of the new pre-season clash came just a day after this year’s Carling Cup was cancelled due the sponsor’s involvement in the upcoming 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia next month.
