Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt suggested that he has previously received offers from the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.
The four-time PSL winning coach says he had two opportunities to make big-money moves to so-called big teams, but turned it down due to the timing.
‘Yes, I have had opportunities where I could have gone. I think in football sometimes it’s about timing,’ he told kickoff.
‘I know if I had gone there I would have won much more than I have won already, I know that. But that’s football and I say it’s about timing.
‘I won’t even mention the name. I had two good opportunities to go, but I did not go. I just did not feel the time was right, and believe you me it was much more money.
‘But if it was about money, then I would have gone. It is what it is. I have always felt it’s about timing for me,’ he concluded.
The defending PSL champions will officially be dethroned on Saturday when Mamelodi Sundowns lift the Absa Premiership title following their encounter against Bloemfonten Celtic.
The Clever Boys have endured a dismal season, but are in with a chance to land a top-eight spot on the final day of the campaign, provided they beat relegated Platinum Stars, in addition to hoping for favourable results from the clashes involving Chippa United, Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows, all of whom are within one point adrift of Hunt’s men.
