Orlando Pirates’ latest signing Meshack Maphangule has revealed that he grew up dreaming of playing for Kaizer Chiefs, but couldn’t turn down Pirates when they came calling.
Maphangule, was one of the stars at Black Leopards in their promotion-winning campaign from NFD to the PSL, with his performances catching the eye of the Sea Robbers.
It has already been confirmed that the 26-year-old midfielder, whose contract with Leopards is set to expire at the end of the month, has been signed by the Buccaneers for the new season.
Maphangule has admitted to his affinity to Chiefs but revealed that this all changed when he became a professional.
‘It has always been my dream to play for one of the big three clubs in the country. I grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs and I always wanted to play for Kaizer Chiefs,’ said Maphangule.
‘But after I turned professional I told myself that I would be happy if I get to play for one of the big three clubs one day. I am happy that I am going to Pirates,’ he concluded.
The 26-year-old signed a five-year contract at the Buccaneers following his five-year stint at Lidoda Duvha where he made 75 appearances and scored four goals.
