South Africa’s Kevin Anderson feels his serve could be his biggest weapon in Wednesday’s quarter-final against defending Wimbledon champion Roger Federer.
Anderson reached the quarter-finals at SW-19 for the first time after defeating Gael Monfils in four sets on Monday.
The 32-year-old is now hoping to beat Federer for the first time.
When asked what he admired about the Swiss legend, Anderson was full of praise.
‘His consistency, the way he plays such great tennis week in and week out.
‘Just the way he moves, the way he conducts himself on the court is very impressive. He makes everything look so easy, so fluid.’
Anderson also highlighted the variety that Federer brings to the court.
‘The use of the slice backhand. The use of his attacking forehand. His defence. He’s really got the complete package.’
However, Anderson feels he can trouble Federer, who has only lost once in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 15 years.
‘I feel like a lot of aspects of my game can give him a lot of trouble, I’m a big player and have a big serve. I’m going to have to really take it to him.’
The South African does not want to let the moment get to him, saying ‘the more I can just treat it like another tennis match, the better for me’.
