Gordon Igesund believes there might be a couple of surprises packages during the upcoming Absa Premiership campaign, declaring its no longer a two-horse race for the title.

The Former Bafana Bafana coach has a vast experience coaching in the PSL, having won four pieces of silverware with four different clubs, including the league title with Manning Rangers Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns while lifting the Telkom Knockout Cup with SuperSport United.
Igesund says the gap between teams in the PSL are getting smaller and he believes Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are no longer favourites to win silverware.
‘Maybe, 20 years ago, you could have predicted Chiefs and Pirates as title favourites, but things have changed dramatically over the last 20 years,’ Igesund told SoccerLaduma.
‘There might be a couple of surprises next season (in the Absa Premiership), there are many capable teams.

‘Football has changed dramatically over the last 15, 20 years, in the sense that there are more teams capable of challenging for silverware, with the gap closing and closing, quicker and quicker.
‘I certainly wouldn’t say the league championship will be between only those three teams [Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns].
‘I think there could be one or two surprises – the teams are constantly improving and challenging.’
