Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has explained the reason behind signing young defender Tristan Moses from Absa Premiership rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

The 20-year-old was instrumental for Amakhosi’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge team as he helped them lift the inaugural Diski Shield trophy under the guidance of legend Arthur Zwane.

The Brazilians wasted no time in snapping up the young defender on a two-and-a-half-year contract after his deal at Amakhosi expired last month.

His signing shows that Mosimane is not only thinking about success now, but is also looking at the bigger picture at Chloorkop.

Mosimane admits that when he signed Moses he was thinking about the long-term future of the team, declaring that Moses alongside Rivaldo Coetzee, Thapelo Morena and Motjeka Madisha is the future of the club.

‘He’s a young, left centreback, rare to find. He showed that he is good in the MDC. He is the future, we need the younger ones. We need to create the future,’ Mosimane told KickOff.com.

‘The future is the Rivaldo’s, the Thapelo’s, the Madisha’s. That’s the future of Sundowns. We need to get the younger ones while we are still using the experienced ones.’
