SuperSport United have announced the appointment of Kaitano Tembo as their head coach on a two-year deal.
Tembo has served as caretaker coach for the last seven months after stepping in for Eric Tinkler, who resigned following a poor run of results that left SuperSport firmly in the relegation scrap.

The former defender stepped up from his assistant role to lead the team to safety and they eventually ended up finishing seventh after the table reshuffle due to Ajax Cape Towns’ Tendai Ndoro case.
Speaking on the appointment, club CEO Stanley Matthews said, ‘Kaitano epitomises what it means to be a club man. He joined us as a player 19 years ago and has worked his way through our youth structures and subsequently into the first team as an assistant.

‘He has steered us on a caretaker basis on three separate occasions and everyone at the club is committed to reciprocating his loyalty and his desire to win silverware.’
Tembo has been at Matsatsantsa for the majority of his career, both as a player and coach, and is looking to add a new chapter in his book at the club.
‘I’m honoured by the confidence the club has shown in me in giving me this great opportunity. This club has been the centre of my life for almost 20 years and I and my players will give everything we have to keep our run of success going,’ said Tembo on his appointment.
