Former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Andre Arendse says he is relishing the chance to see Stuart Baxter at the helm of the South African national team.

The 63-year-old was yesterday officially unveiled as the new head coach of Bafana Bafana by the South African football Association [Safa].

The former Bidvest Wits shot-stopper feels that Baxter is the right man to lead the South African national team ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde.

‘From a personal perspective I think the state of our national team is now in very, very good hands,’ Arendse tells KickOff.com.

Arendse says he is looking forward to seeing Baxter use his experience and his development angle, and incorporating it into the national team.

‘Stuart Baxter comes with lots of experience with national teams and of course the development angle of the national teams where it’s through your junior national teams right up to the senior Bafana,’ he added.

‘What he will bring to the side is a component that football starts with your junior levels and filters right to all the way up to Bafana Bafana.

‘I’m excited about it and I’m excited about looking forward to what he can bring to our national team.’

Baxter is set to part ways with SuperSport United at the end of the season, with two games remaining in the 2016-17 Absa Premiership campaign, which includes games against Chippa United and Platinum Stars.
