Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kearyn Baccus has shared his thoughts on the possibility of representing South Africa in the future.
The 28-year-old, who was born in Durban, is eligible to play for Bafana Bafana as he has never played for Socceroos at any national team level.
Since joining Amakhosi from Australian side Melbourne City, Baccus has already made an impressive start to life at Chiefs, with one goal and two assists from six appearances in the Absa Premiership.
When asked about the possibility of playing for Bafana in the future, Baccus said he would consider the offer if Bafana came knocking but has his heart set on playing for Australia.
‘My heart is set with Australia to be honest, but if South Africa comes knocking I will have to consider it‚’ Baccus told the media.
‘I will sit down with my agent‚ see if it will be good for me to do that and take it from there.
‘I don’t mind representing South Africa but my first and main goal for now is to play well for Chiefs and we will see what happens after that.
‘I have been in camps with the Australia senior national team but I have not played any official matches or anything like that.’
Kaizer Chiefs will next welcome Baroka to the FNB Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 6pm.
