Bafana Bafana took on Swaziland in a Cosafa Cup semi-final on Wednesday as the South Africans ran out 5-1 winners.

Bafana started the game confidently and Aubrey Modiba had the first chance of the contest, but he was just unable to connect with the ball with six minutes gone.

Then, two minutes later, Judas Moseamedi registered the first shot of the contest, but the South African was denied by a Sandile Ginindza save from point-blank range.

Reyaad Pieterse was called into action at the other end after 18 minutes, making a good save to deny Tony Tsabedze. Wonder Nhleko then almost gave Swaziland the lead two minutes later, but ran out of ground with the goalkeeper beaten.

Swaziland enjoyed a good spell of possession and were causing problems for the Bafana defence. Then, after 38 minutes, they broke the deadlock.

It was Tsabedze who scored as he put the ball through the advancing Pieterse’s legs following a great ball from Felix Badenhorst.

Swaziland maintained their lead to go into the interval ahead 1-0.

The second-half began with John Mdluli getting himself sent-off after 51 minutes, reducing Swaziland to 10 men for the remainder of the game. Bafana didn’t take long to make them pay, as Thabiso Kutumela powered home a free kick just a minute later to level the scores at 1-1.

Bafana then took the lead for the first time as Lebogang Phiri fire home a deflected effort after 57 minutes. Bafana then struck their third of a remarkable quarter-hour on the 60 minute mark, as Khethokwakhe Masuku powered in a shot.

Bafana had their fourth after 78 minutes as Moseamedi coolly slotted home to seal Bafana’s final berth in style. Remarkably, Masuku then added his second and Bafana’s fifth in the 83rd minute, to put an end to the game.
