Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter was impressed with his side’s performance in overcoming Angola to reach the final of the Four Nations tournament.

Darren Keet was the hero, as he stopped a penalty in South Africa’s 6-5 penalty shoot-out win after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.

The result sees South Africa advance to the final of the tournament where they will face Justin Shonga’s Zambian outfit, who came from behind to defeat Zimbabwe in the other semi-final.

Baxter fielded a new-look team, which contained a number of youngsters in Aubrey Modiba, Motjeka Madisha, Phakamani Mahlambi and goalscorer Lebo Mothiba.

The former Kaizer Chiefs mentor praised his side for their efforts.

‘The boys showed character against a very stubborn Angola side,’ he is quoted as saying by safa.net.

‘We started off a bit slow in the opening minutes and they really came at us.

‘We eventually gained control of the game with the younger players gaining more confidence.

‘The opening goal was a bit unfortunate but I am glad we recuperated and found the equaliser. It was a great performance and we [are] looking forward to the final on Saturday,’ he concluded.
