Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter insists the result could have been different had they taken all of their chances in the 2-1 loss to Zambia in an international friendly on Tuesday night.

South Africa took the lead in the 23rd minute when Kermit Erasmus and Lebogang Manyama combined for the latter to head home. However, Chipolopolo were not to be outdone as they came from behind to secure a victory and in the process end the home side’s 18-game unbeaten streak.

Baxter highlighted that he was impressed with the first-half performance, but called for Bafana to finish off their chances.

‘We showed in the second half that we can’t switch off,’ Baxter said in post-match comments.

‘We have to keep on doing the right things and when we don’t do that, then instead of being a threat to the opposition, we were a threat to ourselves.

‘But I was pleased with the first-half performance and the last 15 minutes we sort of kicked back into life and we create a few chances.

‘On the run of play we should have scored and a draw would have been a fair result.

‘You miss chances and you always run the risk of losing the game,’ he concluded.

Bafana’s next assignment see them face Botswana in a 2018 CHAN qualifier.
