Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter wants his side to show aggression when they come up against Nigeria in their Afcon qualifier on Saturday, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.

The South African national team currently occupy second place in Group E with eight points, trailing table-toppers Nigeria by a point after four games played in the group stages thus far.

Baxter admits that he has not yet decided on his starting lineup for their upcoming clash, but insists that Thulani Serero could start in midfield with both Dean Furman and Kamohelo Mokotjo out injured.

‘I have an idea of what I need to do although there might be one or two changes and I also need to fine-tune a few areas ahead of Saturday’s game. But I must say that I was very happy with the training today,’ Baxter said.

‘As I said earlier, we have not yet picked the final team for Saturday’s game but Thulani is doing well and as the match progressed during the practice game, he became very comfortable on the ball.’

The Bafana mentor wants his side to show the same determination they did in Uyo when they defeated the Super Eagles 2-0 in their opening group-stage match.

‘We need to stifle them and not give them any momentum. They [the players] need to relax at the right time and be aggressive at the right time,’ he added.

Bafana Bafana will play host to Nigeria in the Afcon qualifier at the FNB Stadium on Saturday with kick-off set for 3pm.
