Bafana Bafana midfielder Ethan Brooks is determined to contribute goals and assists to help South Africa qualify for the upcoming 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
South Africa are gearing up to face Ethiopia in back-to-back qualifiers, starting with a trip to the Bahir Dar Stadium on Saturday before welcoming the same opponents to the FNB Stadium for the return leg on Tuesday.
Hugo Broos’ side currently sit atop the Group G standings with four points after two games following their goalless draw with Zimbabwe before securing a narrow 1-0 win over the Black Stars of Ghana.
Brooks is relishing the chance to represent his country again, looking to improve on his previous performances for the national team.
“I’m honoured and excited to get another national call-up. There are a few new players compared to the last camp, but the mood has not changed. It is upbeat and positive,” Brooks told Safa.
“I look back at my performances and I want to contribute with goals and assists – that is what I’m looking at improving during the next World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.
“Every coach has contributed to my career. Every single one has left an indelible mark on me and my style of football now and for the future of my footballing career, but it is challenging as I need to adapt to their individual styles to give them what they need.”
Bafana Bafana against Ethiopia is scheduled to kick off at 3pm.
