Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says he was pleased with his team’s performance against Ivory Coast as they continue preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The South African national team were forced to share the spoils with Ivory Coast after playing out to a 1-1 draw at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny on Tuesday evening.
South Africa’s attacker Themba Zwane scored the first goal in the ninth minute, slotting the ball past Yahia Fofana. The score was 1-0.
In the 66th minute, Borussia Dortmund forward Sebastien Haller scored a goal with a header that beat Ronwen Williams. The game ended with a score of 1-1 after 90 minutes.
Hugo Broos’ men have now gone 11 games without losing in all competitions.
“I was angry on Friday last week, but I am pleased and happy about this game,” said Broos.
“I think South Africa played a very good game against a very good team.
“There was a very good mentality on the pitch and we played good football. It was not only about defending, but also the way we attacked and put Côte d’Ivoire in trouble.”
