Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos believes there was not much difference in quality between South Africa and Algeria in their thrilling draw in Algiers.
South Africa and Algeria were forced to share the spoils at the Nelson Mandela Stadium after playing out to a 3-3 draw when a brace by Themba Zwane and a goal by Iqraam Rayners cancelled out a brace from Yassine Benzia and a goal from Yacine Brahimi.
Bafana will now prepare to exact their revenge on Nigeria when the two sides meet in the Fifa World Cup Group Stage qualifier on June 3.
Broos was pleased with his side’s performance and felt like they continued to improve their performance game by game after holding the Algerians to a stalemate.
“What a game! It was a fantastic game from both teams, but the performance of South Africa was really, really good,” said Broos.
“We played against a very strong team, but I do not think there was much difference between the quality of our game and the quality of the game of Algeria.
“That means we have progressed in the last few months.”
