Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says he is “very happy” with his squad ahead of their international friendlies against Eswatini and Côte d’Ivoire.
Broos’ charges will host Eswatini on October 13, 2023, before travelling to West Africa to face the hosts of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, Côte d’Ivoire, on October 17.
These matches are part of the coach’s preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations in January of next year, as well as the November 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
The team reported to camp in Johannesburg on October 8, and after hosting Eswatini on October 13, Broos and his team will fly to Abidjan the next day on a direct flight from Johannesburg.
They will return to South Africa on October 18.
Broos has revealed he has three players injured at the moment but is hoping they will be fit in time for the upcoming Afcon.
“We have again three injured players for the moment, players who played in the previous games.
“It’s a pity, but I think for 80-85% that the team is made (for AFCON).
“There can be changes, certainly there can be changes, but I’m very happy that we are already so far. With those two games now, Eswatini and Côte d’Ivoire, I can really make the choices next month for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.”
