Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says Nyiko Mobbie “never disappoints” him and that’s why he will “always” back the Sekhukhune United defender.
The 28-year-old debuted in the national team in their 3-0 defeat to Lesotho in the 2020 African Nations Championship qualification on 4 August 2019.
The Sekhukhune United defender has since gone on to feature 14 times for the national team since making his debut back under then-coach Molefi Ntseki.
Broos is a firm believer in the defender and commends the performance and display of Nyiko in the national team.
“You know, Nyiko (Mobbie) never disappointed me every game he played he never disappointed me except that one game in France,” Broos told SABC Sport.
“This was not because of him it was because of the team.
“He was against (Kylian) Mbappe and against the left back (Theo) Hernández, yeah, he was lost totally the team left him in the trouble he had that moment.
“But all the games he played besides that Nyiko never disappointed me and that’s why I defend him always.”
